Some places are doing delivery (Target does). Many places will bag your groceries for you and all you have to do is come in and pick them up.

With a lot of elderly, the best solution is hiring someone to come in for a few hours a day, do the grocery shopping and maybe cook lunch.

Well, since we're no longer paying private school tuition, college tuition and related living stipends, mortgages, clothing allowances, auto-related expenses for three other cars, fees for school activities, monthly allowances, braces and a host of other child related expenses, I think we got delivery service covered.

That's exactly why I'm moving in with one of 'em. I've paid for it already lol.

The number may not be as dire as it looks. Income alone does not explain the pic of a person's financial situation. Many seniors can still sell their houses to for the last few years. Senior homeownerships are among the highest of all age groups. And most wont need senior living until the very end.

On the other hand, theoretically, it is possible to spend all assets to be qualified for Medicaid. As most of nursing facilities are on the edge of bankruptcy, I seriously doubt the strategy will work when I retire ( in twenty years). Think about Section 8.
