With all those employees, it would sure be nice to see Emory make a financial commitment to getting some of them to work via alternative transportation. What do they spend every year on building, maintaining and operating parking lots? Maybe they could just 10% of that to transit funding.

Same with Delta or any of these other huge employers for that matter. Think of the impact their leadership would have on the real estate development community!

There's a free-to-employees bus, funded and operated by Delta, that circulates continually during business hours from the airport, quite near the MARTA station, to the Delta headquarters. It averages 3-4 trips per hour.

Well, if they actually follow through, that's at least a beginning.

Emory's been benefiting from MARTA for nearly half a century. So they've got a lot of making up to do.

Delta and Emory are closely tied, even though very different.

Yeah, Emory is a powerhouse with a massive endowment. With the huge new complex coming to Executive Park and the remaking of the Midtown Hospital campus, their impact and influence will only increase. It's definitely one of the 'Crown Jewels' of Atlanta.

Delta's influence goes without saying as well. They connect us to the world, and they're widely considered to be the best of the legacy Airlines.

We are extremely fortunate to have both.

My boss, who is a Partner at a large law firm, graduated from Emory. He is one the most competent and respectful bosses, I have ever had. Emory is producing world class leaders.

In addition to all its university employees, Emory brings in hundreds of thousands of medical patients.
Quote:
In fiscal year 2018, EHC [Emory Healthcare] had $3.57 billion in net revenue and provided $98 million in charity care. It has 22,605 employees and 2,691 hospital beds. Annual hospital admissions total 75,492, and outpatient service visits, 4.7 million. In fiscal year 2018, EHC clinicians saw 617,094 individual patients.

Emory Healthcare
That's nearly 1,700 patients a day, seven days a week. Many are accompanied by friends or family.

In addition to all that, Emory's got 15,000 students on the books, each of whom is paying $53,000 a year in tuition alone.

That is flat over the top. Of course they are tax exempt so that helps, but it's still quite an enterprise.
