I have. After the thread about Nacho Daddy, I've very intentionally limited the amount of time I spend there. At least on here, when people have a hill to die on, one's real name is [mostly] kept in the clear.

In my neighborhood they constantly complain about how their cars were broken into and the area has become so unsafe. Then you find out they left their doors unlocked.

Better to for them reach in and take what they are trying to take then to break my window. i make that decision all the time.

Do you then go online and complain someone broke into your car?

I don't consider it breaking in if you didn't have to break anything to get in.... Maybe I'm weird.

Strictly speaking, its not "breaking in".

To tie this in to the original topic, Duluth is safe, as long as you lock your doors, and your car if you have to park it outside. But, that's sensible advice pretty much anywhere.

Looks like Duluth is getting a Lidl and more senior housing.

What a bizarre turn of events. The rezoning for this project was approved years ago. All the land was cleared and roads were put in. Then LIDL pulled out, and the project stalled. It's been vacant ever since.

Looks like they want to build there again... but why would they have to go through rezoning, when that already happened?

There's also a proposal being floated to put 258 apartments at the intersection of Buford Hwy and Davenport Rd on a couple of parcels currently occupied by a thrift store and Korean church. Davenport Rd is already very difficult to get out of, especially if you're turning left. I truly hope, if this does go through, that they put in the traffic signal that has been in the plans for that intersection since 2011.

Hi all, I have a job offer which will be located in Duluth GA. Career wise it's likely the right move, about a 20% bump up in salary to around 100K. I'm a single 26 year old guy who's been in Colorado between Colorado Springs and Denver my whole life. On one hand it would be exciting to see something new; Atlanta appears to have a lot of outdoor options, weather looks good (I like summer and humidity), the city metrics look good in this area between safety, COL, politics... Also it looks like Atlanta would have a significantly better dating scene than Denver or COS just in regards to M:F ratio for young guys. Duluth looks interesting, the restaurant choices look neat, the area looks clean, though a little bit suburbiaish. Is Duluth a decent spot for a younger person? I'm not looking for a downtown party scene, but I wouldn't necessarily want to live somewhere like Woodland Park CO where it's a predominantly older / retiree destination.

On the other hand though one of my issues with Denver was how big the city was, I like COS's size better and the quicker ability to get outside. Atlanta traffic really does scare me. How bad is traffic going from NE Atlanta out into the public land / forests / open space, going further north or to the east? Is the traffic mostly going into / around the city or is it all over the Atlanta area that it gets clogged?

To be honest I didn't even realize they had a decent downtown till I started looking into Duluth as a serious contender to call home. So i'm just wondering for those who stay in Duluth, do you like it. Is it ok? Is there enough amenities? Safety? Good place to raise a family? etc.etc.
I'm a died in the wool ITP guy, and I would live there.
