We bought a house in Harmony on The Lakes in Holly Springs and move in June 1st. My daughter takes dance and I would love to find a school thats good but fun. Not super stuffy or strict but not so laid back they dont learn actual dance techniques.

Any ideas??

We looked at Hickory Flat Dance (just around the corner up on E Cherokee) as well as another school down on Old Hwy 5 in the Publix center at E Cherokee (I can't remember the name). Both seemed like they'd probably be what you're looking for, though I can say for sure- my girls decided to switch to guitar and piano lessons and abandoned the dance concept.....

The guitar and piano lessons are both at Donley's Music. They've got two locations- one down by the train tracks on Hickory Road (closer to the south entrance) and one on 140 heading toward E Cherokee (closer to the north entrance). We go to the Hickory Road location, but either one is fine- I think they share some instructors.

We also just purchased a house in Harmony on the lakes and close june 5th. My daughter is 5 and dances at Dance Imagination in Woodstock. Its a little far (about 20-25min), but my daughter loves the atmosphere there. Classes are once a week, for about 55 minutes. You can choose from a combination of ballet (45 min) and tap (10 min) or ballet and hip hop, same time schedule. During ballet, they learn dance techniques, but they also dress up as the theme of the day, and then read a story about that theme. Then they come out show us their cute costumes and change into their tap or hip hop shoes and finish the rest of the class. Once they hit about age 5 or have previous dance experience, the classes become a little more disciplined and more of the technical aspects of dance are taught. They still dress up and read stories, but its cut back to every other week instead of every class. We've been with Dance Imagination for almost 3 years now, and I am very pleased. I hope this helps.

Hi, I just saw your post and saw that you purchased a house in Harmony on the Lakes in June. How do you like your home, the quality of it and how do you like the neighborhood? Also, how do you like the schools? We are looking to rent in there first and see if we really like it and then buy in there during our rental time. Can you please give me some input? We are looking at the Pulte homes.

thanks

We just passed the one year milestone in our Pulte home at Harmony, and we couldn't be happier. The house is very well-built, and we've had only minor warranty issues, which were all addressed promptly. The neighborhood is great- there's plenty of kids around, and it seems like there's always something to do either in the development or in the nearby area. We've been very impressed by the schools, even compared to the highly-touted NJ schools that we left behind.

Hey there!!

I am loving living in HOTL, we live in a Pulte section and had phenomenal customer service from the Pulte builders. (cannot say the same for the mortgage company though) We had some very minor things.. like they set our washer pipes on the right and dryer hookup on the left during building and when I saw it and told them I had just bought front loaders they knocked the wall out and fixed it!!!! This was before we had even closed!!!

I love the people and activity, I live on a cul de sac and just on my street alone there are 9 kids under 4th grade. (and there is still an empty house and 2 lots left!!!) I think the pool is great and while busy in the summer was never too crowded. The lake is beautiful!

The school is fine. I am thoroughly impressed with the principal he really seems eager to make any changes necessary and keep everyone happy! My kids teachers are decent one if fantastic and one is good. The school is very very large though and because of that we notice a lot of crowding growing pains... But I have faith that this will be worked out. I believe there is talk of a new elementary being started in 2010 which would help.

But I love my home. The price incentives right now are fantastic!!! Having now been here 4.5 months I would definitely do it all again if i was back in the lookinbg phases.

Thank you both sarhara910 and bobkovacs for your comments. They both sound super positive and enlightening! I am happy to hear that. We are in the process of renting one of the houses in there on Idlewood drive and then we will begin our searching to either build one or look at the existing ones to finish. I am sooo excited. I just know we are going to love it in there. We are closing on our house on the 23rd and hopefully be moving in on the 25th! I can't wait to meet everyone. I have a 6 yr old and while sad to leave her current school and friends, she is very excited too. I just know we will be very happy there.
