FWIW, the South Cobb address provided by Microtel appears to be almost five miles to the south of the Cumberland Mall.

Traffic is something which must be considered when visiting Atlanta.

RCSteiner said this part of South Cobb Drive is about 5 miles from Cumberland Mall/Galleria. Before I would make a reservation there I would contact someone at this motel and get specific directions to Six Flags.

It is a well-traveled route south/north so there are plenty of chain restaurants and shopping malls if that is a consideration.

*ETA:
The directions say it's about 16 miles--take I20 from S. Cobb Drive. This is probably a better location than Union City --more places to eat etc. Unless someone has information to the contrary this should be a safe area.
Good luck.

GCPA is on a distinguished road
This hotel, I believe, is located right off I-285 (turn inside perimeter) at S. Cobb Drive. While it is VERY convenient to Six Flags, I still would not stay there. Stay away from Six Flags area hotels, also. An exit or 2 further north on I-285 from S. Cobb Drive would be alot better.

Unless Microtel is affiliated with other motels (ie Days Inn/Trip Rewards includes several other motels in its system) I would not plan to stay with them this trip. Seriously.

None of their locations are very convenient imo--probably good for those who do business in Atlanta.

Microtel says 'Coming Soon' for Woodstock and Canton--not so far from Six Flags.

That is why I came on this forum Microtel is a good chain and good rooms and once I am inside I feel ok in the place since they inclosed room entrances but they also choose odd locations across the U.S that you really got to do your homework of each location.

What about Extended Stay? or a something similar somewhat close to s.f?

I really appreciate everyone input by the way and if you ever need similar advice in Charlotte will provide best we can.

Thanks --I'd like to visit NC again--beautiful state.

Here's Homestead Inn/Extended Stay>>
Homestead Studio Suites Hotels - Extended Stay and Corporate Housing

They have:
--Homestead Studio Suites/ 2239 Powers Ferry Rd/near Wildwood Business Community
Orbitz: Homestead Atlanta - Marietta - Powers Ferry Rd.

--Extended Stay/3103 Sports Ave/off Spring Rd/ Smyrna
--Extended Stay/1967 Leland Drive/ Hwy41/Windy Hill
--Extended Stay/2010 Powers Ferrry Rd.

Hopefully someone knows the area and can provide more FYI. Some parts of Windy Hill are 'iffy'--a long road and lots of motels are located here.

Extended Stay/Vinings>>> This might be a good one. Same General area but 'nicer'.
Extended Stay Hotels - Atlanta - Vinings (broken link)
