Driving to Conyers and heading East I can do. I just don't want to venture too far into the city proper until I am a confident driver on American roads, especially with my kids.
Thanks again

I don't blame you a bit.
The most direct route is I20 but there are back roads like 'Stone Mt/Lithonia Rd, Rockbridge Rd' and you would need directions from someone who really understood the area.
For Gardening advice locals rely upon Walter Reeves.

and
'Pick Your Own' farms>> I saw this link on the 'Urban Baboon' blog.
Where to find pick your own farms and orchards in Georgia for fruit, vegetables, pumpkins and Christmas trees.

I am so glad you gave me these websites Take-a-hike, my earliest childhood memory is going strawberry picking and I want to pass this on to my kids as most kids these days don't even know where fruit and veg comes from.
Thank you once again

I don't know the lay of land quite yet and have no idea where Henry county is (sorry!) but we are an all organic vegan family, and we LOVE Trader Joe's! There are several locations in the metro, hopefully one near you.

It is south of Atlanta--McDonough, Hampton/Atlanta Speedway, Stockbridge.
It may be a few years before they see anything like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's.
At least I will have homegrown tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, butternut squash and a few herbs. Other than that if Kroger, Publix, Walmart and the DeKalb Farmers' Market don't have 'it'--I will not be eating 'it'. Wouldn't drive across the city for anything.
