Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has purchased a 14,000-plus square foot French country manor in Powder Springs for almost $9.5 million.

The Rock recently shot parts of two consecutive upcoming films in metro Atlanta: “Jumanji: The Next Level” and “Jungle Cruise.” He has also spent time in the state working on other big-budget fare such as “Baywatch,” “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” “Fast Five” and “Furious 7.”

Not only is real estate much cheaper in Georgia than in Los Angeles, the chances of wildfires, earthquakes and mudslides are far lower as well.

A home on less acreage but comparable size in Beverly Hills is currently on sale for $56 million..."

I see more of this happening as they film more and more movies in the ATL.. After building studios here, this is the next step in cementing the industry in ATL/Georgia.

Unrealistic home prices are a fall out from prop 22 and the capping of property taxes in California. What is happening are homes & the land are being put into trusts where the money is in the land not the house. The result is home prices in the very desirable areas are attracting foreign investors who are content to buy the property & leave it for several generations. .

I think we will continue to see more & more a listers buy a 2nd home in Georgia where a lot of films are now being filmed.

No doubt, if you're spending 4-6 months a year in Atlanta/Georgia filming movies or tv shows, it always nice to be able to sleep in your own bed at night!

Still not sure why the Rock picked Powder Springs. I live near there in East Paulding. Not a huge fan of the area. My wife lived out this way. But we're now trying to get closer to the city...

The horse stable reminds me of Jack Waltz’s one in The Godfather.
