Shopping Near Happy Hollow Road?
The owner accepted our offer, so as of May 12, we'll be the owners of a new home on Happy Hollow Road. (I think it's off Tilly Mill). Our realtor says it's Doraville, but the good folks here say it's Dunwoody. We're zoned to Dunwoody schools.
We looked at so many houses that I'm totally confused. Anyone know where the nearest Target, Wal-Mart and Publix are? At some point I'll need a gynecologist and a general family doctor as well. We also need a black barber shop, preferably with older barbers for my son who is only three. Any other suggestions would be great, especially parks and other places to entertain a three-year-old.

Happy Hollow is off of Peeler which intersects Tilly Mill. You are most likely in Dunwoody(currently, Dunwoody is only a state of mind///the area MAY vote for cityhood later this year.) Dunwoody is currently unincorporated Dekalb County. Actually, part of Happy Hollow is in Sandy Springs(Fulton County) but if you are closer to Peeler, you are in Dekalb(Dunwoody, definitely NOT Doraville!). Haven't lived out that way for many years but your nearest shopping is on Winters Chapel and along Peachtree Industrial. If you head northwest on Winters Chapel to Spalding you will hit Holcomb Bridge and all the suburban sprawl shopping you can handle. Good luck on your move.
Edit...I should add that if you head west to the intersection of Mt. Vernon and Dunwoody Club, you will find grocery shopping as well as restaurants and shops...farther west to 'Dunwoody' will bring you to many more shops and restaurants, CVS, Fresh Market, Old Hickory House(yum BBQ), bank branches, post office, etc. A touch of traffic during school and work rush hours with nary a main road in sight.

Your closest grocery store will most likely be the Kroger in the Orchard Park Shopping Center (intersection of Dunwoody Club Dr. and Jett Ferry Rd). There is also a CVS across the street and lots of little shops. Wal-Mart, etc.., will probably be most easily found on Holcomb Bridge Rd. as mentioned.

There is a small park on Holcomb Bridge Rd. right at the river-coming your direction, it would be on the right immediately before you get to the river. If you want a bigger park, try Brook Run on Tilly Mill Rd. It's a little fancier and more spread-out, but I like the one on Holcomb Bridge for days when I don't feel like chasing my two around a large area.
We participate in "The Music Class" which has a location at Dunwoody Village. It's great for the under-5 set. Classes are held most mornings and some weekend times as well.

Also check out The Purple Hippo art studio in Dunwoody Village. Fun place for the kids to get messy (directly across the way from the Music Class).

There's also a barber shop in Dunwoody Village, but I have no idea whether they cater to black hair or not. "Big John" has cut my three-year-old's hair, and did a nice job. It's behind the Wal-Green's facing toward the Starbucks.

Here's a Google Map to get you started: Google Maps
The Orchard Park Kroger is the closest to you -- as others have said there's a variety of other stores, shops, restaurnants, etc. there at the confluence of Mt. Vernon, Dunwoody Club, and Jett Ferry. The Target on Peachtree Industrial is probably the easier to get to, though you're basically equidistant between it and the SuperTarget at Dunwoody Place. Likewise, though the Ashford-Dunwoody Walmart might be closer, the SuperCenter on Peachtree Industrial inside the Perimeter in Chamblee might be easier to get to.

I highly recommend my OB/GYN - Dr. Yvette Smith at Atlanta Women's Specialist. She always seems to have all the time in the world! And, she is a cool AA Mom of triplets! Irreplaceable!

Oh cool Pinetreelover. I don't know why, but I think triplets are too cool.
Thanks everyone. Now that y'all have mentioned it, the terrain is coming back to me. I swear, we looked at fifteen houses in one day, while tugging my three-year-old along. I was positively cross-eyed when it was over! Yeesh!

Agree that your best bet for groceries is probably that Kroger in Orchard Park...I shop there and it's a great store. It's at the intersection of Dunwoody Club and Jett Ferry (and Mt. Vernon Rd., I think). As for big box shopping, you could really either go to the Perimeter area or the Forum area in P'tree Corners. The Target by Perimeter is pretty new, whereas the one in P'tree Corners is ancient (I'm guessing they will renovate someday, given how nice they are making the rest of that area).
