My two older children were accepted into St. Jude's but my youngest, who will be in Kindergarten next year, was put on the wait list. We just bought a home last week in Spalding Lakes. It all moved very quickly and I thought the elementary school was Kingsley but then learned it was Dunwoody Springs. I have heard mixed things about this school. Can anyone tell me if it would be a good school to attend or if I should search elsewhere? I have also heard I should contact Kingswood United Methodist and Chamblee Methodist schools.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should try browsing the school thread first, and if it's not already answered, you can add a post there: http://www.city-data.com/forum/atlan...-one-keep.html

Dunwoody Springs isnt a very good school. And demographics wise, way different than St. Judes. A lot of the seedy apratments around exit 6, dunwoody place, and roswell road all feed into this school.

Dunwoody Springs isn't a bad school, it is very diverse in all ways.

I have friends who go there and their children are doing great. Yes, they are in the minority, but given that your child won't be there for very long, I don't think this should matter to you. They have awesome teachers.

It has all kinds of really neat programs including a partnership with Georgia State.

That said, you certainly can call Kingswood and Chamblee Methodist, though I suspect those programs are full, but you never know.

Additionally, presuming you can find a carpool to St. Judes, you can also consider Cross and Crown (Lutheran though, I don't know if that will bother you) and Holcomb Bridge Day School. However, those two run a traditional day, so you are going to really have to juggle to get all your kids where they need to be.

Thanks to everyone with great information. After researching the Dunwoody Springs school, I don't think it is for us.

I talked with St. Luke's today and will be able to get into the kindergarten program! The director was incredibly nice and I feel good about the school.
