Here is an article I found today in AJC. It said that so far in 2008 Atlanta is on track to record a drop in crime, if the last half is consistent with the first six months. Although July and August are the peak months of violent crime with the heat and kids out of school, it seemed pretty quiet this summer. Then again, the AJC doesn't post every single homicide like it used to, or maybe the headlines are hidden somewhere or get taken down sooner.

Anyhow, this is a bit of good news after a bad 2006 and 2007. Last year was really bad since the rest of nation lowered their crime, so Atlanta might be ranked the #1 most dangerous city for '07.

Atlanta is far from being the most dangerous city. I know DC has close to 200 murders and Bmore have close to 300 murders. Philly had almost 400 murders for 2007. The 120+ murders Atlanta had doesnt even compare Do your own research and compare Atlanta with other cities the same size before you say Atlanta should be ranked #1 when it was even close to being #1.

Maybe you should do some research. You are quoting total numbers, not homicides per capita.

The City of Philadelphia has three times the population of the City of Atlanta. So, in fact, they do compare.
