I will be interviewing for a couple teaching positions in College Park. If offered a position and I accept, I would want to live close by (I hear traffic in the ATL area is horrendous). What areas would you recommend? I will be moving with my 2 yo daughter and want somewhere safe and that is close to shopping/doctors offices/daycare. I would also like to live in an affordable area. For me that would mean a rent of 850 max for a 2br.
Thanks a lot! |

If you're concerned about schools, forget about anything in Clayton County.

You might want to look in Historic College Park (a specific neighborhood inside College Park).
And yes, stay out of Clayton until they resolve this accreditation thing. Though, I wonder and others please give input, since her daughter is only 2 perhaps she can get a REALLY good deal on a house and by the time it matters for her daughter's education, etc, the accreditation thing will probably be resolved. Sounds like investment potential... |

I'd buy in Clayton right now given your situation. It's not like the schools won't get it back here in the next 6 months. Get a good deal.

Even if it takes 6 years before they get the accreditation act back together....it really won't be a problem because her daughter will only be in the 2nd grade. No worries about HOPE.

Thanks a lot for the input.
I have read recommendations about buying out in Clayton Co. and I would imagine I'd be able to get a good deal on a house given the current circumstances. I have read other posts saying that Clayton isn't only having trouble with its schools, but with its crime as well. How true is that statement? If I were to buy out in Clayton, which areas should I be looking in? |
