I have a friend trying to decide between Savannah, Augusta, Columbus, or Macon and needs the good and the bad about these metro areas? Which city should she move to and which should she stay away from? Ranked in order which is the best and worst and why? Which city will grow and have a great quality of life in the next 5 years? Which metro has a great night life? Which area supports sports teams well and which does not support minor league hockey and baseball well? because she loves these sports with out having to drive to Atlanta. Which of these cities have great concerts and supports them well and which city supports them the least? She likes alot of entertainment options so which city has a great quality of life?

Given those criteria, Savannah is pretty much her only choice. Columbus is a far distant second.

While all of those things might bear some importance in her decision, I'd think the ability to find a good job in her field would be far more important than all of those combined (unless she's independently wealthy). Those cities have very different economies, so I'd look harder at that than at the other items- but that's just me.

Of the four cities mentioned, Columbus and Savannah have the brightest outlook for job growth. If I read the initial post correctly, I believe the person said they already had a job offer that could be stationed in any one of those four cities.. and that the decision on which to choose would be based on quality of life, etc. Under those circumstances, I would Put Savannah and then Columbus above the others.

Augusta or Savannah. There's not much to do in Macon or Columbus. I live here in Atlanta but I visit all 4 cities on a regular basis because of my job and while there's things to do in all cities, it's easier to find things to get into in Savannah and Augusta and they both look nicer than the other two as well. Augusta is much larger and has more to do and Savannah is a great tourist town and is close to beaches and both have good shopping nice restaurants and clubs.

It's really unfair to compare Macon and Columbus to the other two because they have larger populations so they of course are going to have more to do and not to mention Savannah is close to the ocean.
