I don't think there's a good way to make this trip other than leaving at 6am before rush hour and then going somewhere to eat breakfast once you've gotten there.

You can try 285E and get off at Riverside Drive if it seems backed up. Then if you have to get off, you can take Mount Vernon Highway to Hammond Drive and get back on at Ashford-Dunwoody.

I know this sounds crazy, but sometimes it's faster to take 75S to 85N.

Lower Roswell Rd to Abernathy may work too, but I tend to like to parallel the highway so I can get back on if I hit a part where it clears up.
