quick morning drive question
I avoid the highways during rush hour at all costs but tomorrow morning i need to go from Marietta to Doraville (Pleasantdale otp near 285). mapquest is giving me Powers Ferry S to 285E to 85N (about 18 miles), P Ferry should be a nightmare, 85N should be no problem (against the traffic) but what is 285 like heading E at 7:30-8:00 am? Is that going to be as bad as I think or are most commuters heading 285W?

Crossing Spaghetti Junction at 7:30 - 8 AM is illadvised at best.
If you know the back roads get off at Chamblee-Dunwoody and cross Buford Hwy to Pleasantdale or Shallowford if things start to look bad.

I head West every morning between 400 and 75 @ 7:30am.
I have never gone below the speed limit.
East is always backed up. It was completely stopped this morning.

Chmblee Dunwoody S to Buford N ? I would've thought heading south would be worse?

I think you might be in luck. If you are going tomorrow morning (Friday), traffic might be lighter.

I think Chamblee-Dunwoody crosses Buford Hwy above/below Shallowford Rd.
Pleasantdale is also in this vicinity.
Maybe it will be OK--surface streets are better to me when things are bad.

Headed East on I285 get off at Chamblee Dunwoody--turn Right and proceed across Buford Highway. Chamblee Dunwoody and Shallowford fork after you cross Buford Highway--take a R or L and keep going you eventually cross I85 and intersect with LaVista Rd or Chamblee Tucker. Pleasantdale Rd is further north--IIRC.
We have posters who give great directions but I am not one of them.

I use google maps but actually say mapquest, guess its like kleenex/tissue. "Mapquest it" works as a verb "google map it" just doesn't sound right!
