Default Is the area around McKoy Park in Decatur safe?

I just took a job with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, and will be moving down to Atlanta within the next 2-3 months. My wife and I (baby on the way) just recently visited and we really liked Decatur. We saw a couple of nice homes in our price range about one mile south of the center of Decatur, near McKoy Park, and are considering a purchase there. I'm wondering if this area is safe? I've heard that the area around Glenwood Rd. isn't too safe, but it seemed like McKoy Park was a nice residential area. I would really appreciate any advice/info! Thanks!

I'm assuming that the house is located within the city of Decatur...you'll be fine there, and pretty close to the Oakhurst business district, which is very cool.

Yep, that area is fine so long as you are in the Decatur
city limits. McKoy park is great for kids too, and they are opening a new pool there this summer.

Is the park still fairly safe at night, or does the bored, younger crowd hang out there?

I've never been there at night. I've never heard reports of bored youth there and I live only a few blocks away. There are teenagers there during the day b/c of the skateboard park, but aside from the occasional blurting out of an obscenity or two when they inevitably fall and hurt themselves... they are a pretty nice lot of kids.
