You're in such an eclectic area that the racial make-up of the neighborhood is probably not all that different from the country (ie, mostly white with the largest minority being black, etc). What makes it strange is that most of American neighborhoods aren't set up like that...

I grew up in atlanta and know that it has really changed on the east side. I dont regret moving here at all.

Try shopping either very late or very early in the day. My favorite time to grocery shop is either midnight or 7am.
