Published on: 05/05/08 Repairs on a broken water main will slow the already clogged intersection at Ponce de Leon Avenue and Briarcliff Road through Tuesday morning's commute.
A driver crashed into a fire hydrant at the intersection late Monday afternoon, causing the main to rupture, said Janet Ward, spokeswoman for the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management.

The water main has been fixed, but Department of Transportation crews will work have to through the night to repair the road. A spokesman said it's unlikely work will be completed before lunchtime Tuesday.
