Thanks to all of you for the information on Norcross. I will check out downtown Norcross later this week...and then post my opinion of the area...

Being new to Atlanta, working in Lawrenceville, and being a city girl, it has been difficult to determine where to live. If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know.

The best suggestion is to live close to where you work since traffic is horrible. Downtown Norcross does not really have much, maybe a half dozen restaurants at the most and a coffee house. Most stores in the Norcross downtown will close at 5pm or 6pm. The best part about downtown Norcross is how close it is to the incredible number of diverse little strip malls they have around Norcross. You are close to great little grocery stores with fresh produce like Guadalajara Supermarket and Super Mercado Jalisco. Super Mercado Jalisco has a little restaurant in back with great authentic tacos and burritos. Mega Taco restaurant also has great carne asada and camarones diabla. I always enjoyed the chance to practice my Spanish there, especially since most people didn't speak English.

Another suggestion on where to live are the apartments off Meadow Church Rd. across from Sugarloaf Country Club. This is a great location. From here you can easily take Meadow Church Rd. to Boggs Rd and get on Highway 316 for a reverse commute to Lawrenceville. You can also easily access the 85 via Boggs Rd. for a straight freeway ride to midtown Atlanta when you choose to go. You will also be very close to Discover Mills and Jillians (http://www.jillians.com/club_detail.asp?club_id=32 - broken link). It is not exactly urban but that is the way it is in Gwinnett County. This location is also very close to the Gwinnett Civic Center (http://www.gcvb.org/static/index.cfm?contentID=97 - broken link).

Good luck with your move!
