Default Where to hang out in Atlanta, need help!

Hello,

My husband and I will be in Atlanta from May 11-18, we are going to
scope out the metro area to see if it is someplace we want to relocate
or not.

While we are there, I would like to know some good nightclubs to go
to. We are 29 & 30 so I would like something "grown & sexy" as they
say. We like jazz, rnb, rap, Caribbean music, and salsa. I like to
dance, he does not so much. LOL! So, the environment can either be
laid back and chill or hopping for me, but not too much hopping.
Because some times I do like to sit my ass down.

In addition places to go, things to do would be appreciated as well.
So far I know we will be going to a Braves game, the aquarium, the
zoo, a winery, MLK center, and Centennial Park for the Wednesday Jazz
event.

I was also thinking about checking out the Varsity in downtown, the
Sundial Restaurant, and Atlantic Station. Any yays or nays on that?

Thanks,
Dee Dee

Restaurant/Lounges that cater to "The Grown & Sexy" - All with live music/Dj spinning

Harlem Bar - Kind of like a sex in the city vibe for the "Grown & Sexy" Set
Cafe Circa - Great Neo Soul Acts and great food nightly.
Rare - Sister restaurant to Harlem Bar a bit more upscale
Justin's - Diddy's Restaurant
Social House - Great Brunch Spot

Happenings Nightspots for the Week--Clubs/Lounges

Tongue & Groove -Mondays
Via Lounge - Tuesdays
Luckie Lounge - Wednesday
Leopard Lounge/Verve- Thursday
Velvet Room or Compound - Friday
Saturday - Verve or The Mark

Barley's Billiards - Thursday-Friday - Great live music for the grown & sexy feat. In Ebony

Lounges---
Noir
MBar
Slice
Maxim Prime Rooftop on Wednesdays

All these locations are within the city in Atlanta proper (Sorry but OTP doesn't have NEAR the quality and abundance of unique restaurant/bars/lounges and clubs as inside of the city). Have fun!

The Varsity sucks in my opionion. Definately a tourist trap that you don't have to eat at but to each is own. While your here definately take a look into some of the unique intown Atlanta n'hoods.

Little Five Points (Not to be confused with FIVE POINTS in Downtown Atlanta)

Old 4th Ward (Near The MLK Site)

Inman Park/Freedom Parkway area

Virginia Highlands

Candler Park

Downtown Decatur

I would suggest renting a bicycle since these neigborhoods are so close to and you can easily ride from Neighborhood to Neighborhood to get a true feeling on Intown Atlanta neighborhoods. It would make for a great day trip!

I like to look at websites. I know that there have been some interesting threads on the Intown areas just what I would want to know if I were planning a trip.

I really feel sorry for people who need to come to Atlanta and have no idea of where they will be. ('Roswell Rd' --could be in the heart of Buckhead or somewhere in Marietta.)

I've had a few of those trips and consider myself fortunate to have escaped unscathed.

Maybe I will contact a Moderator. I asked a while back but maybe they will say 'Yes' this time.

It sucks being a single woman in Atlanta. There are 9 women for every man. Plus, there is really no where for a woman to go besides a meat-market bar to find men. Alaska, here I come!
