Starting off with some bittersweet news:

Toyota Financial Services has recently announced its plans to consolidate their customer service operations into their dealer services hubs. Their Alpharetta office will be one of the three remaining hubs left, but it is unfortunate for the cities such as Cedar Rapids and Baltimore where offices are closing.

"Toyota Financial Services is closing a large field office in Iowa as part of ongoing efforts to consolidate its customer service operations into its dealer services hubs in the South. Two more centers will close to form three Experience Centers, according to a Toyota Financial Services spokesman.

Headquartered in Plano, Texas, Toyota’s captive arm plans to organize all of its dealership and customer service representatives in Plano; Chandler, Ariz.; and Alpharetta, Ga.

The approximately 400 customer service representatives in Owings Mills, which is outside Baltimore, will be relocated to the dealer services center in Alpharetta."

An Alpharetta based company (that I had never heard of until now) has recently announced an acquisition.

" Pye-Barker Fire & Safety ("Pye-Barker Fire") is proud to announce the acquisition of Haines City Fire Extinguisher Service, Inc. and Haines City Fire & Security Services, Inc. (referred to jointly as "Haines City Fire"), located outside Orlando in Winter Haven, Florida. The purchase was finalized in April and follows Pye-Barker Fire's recent expansion in the area through the acquisition of United Fire Protection."

A description of Pye-Barker:

"Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is a leading provider of fire and life safety protection services, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia and over 70 locations spanning the Continental US. Since its founding in 1946, Pye-Barker Fire's core values have been unwavering in providing honest and reliable service through its highly trained and dedicated employees. "

Over the next five years, ServiceMaster wants to double revenues to $5 billion. Its relocation to Atlanta is central to that strategy. It offered a better opportunity for expansion than other cities, Stock said, citing Atlanta's strong, diverse labor pool and access to Hartsfield-Jackson airport.

The company is hiring 100, with longer-range plans for up to 250. “We’ve been recruiting hard,” Stock said. “We have significant opportunities across all of our functions.”
