Uh oh - Atlanta 1st in driver cell use and giving the bird. Whoops!
Well, we broke some records. We give people the finger more when driving, admit to speeding more than anyone else, and talk on cell phones more than just about any other American city out there. Yippie.
Story - HERE.
I still can be honest when I say though, that I don't speed (well, more than 5 or so MPH over the limit maybe) and I refuse to talk on my cell while driving. I can't say I haven't um, accidentally made a hand gesture at someone before, though.

I just read that article on the AJC and we are 6th behind DC, great. I just hope that those on here don't turn this into an ugly north/south debate like what was on the AJC. I think people should go by the book and/or just use common sense while on the road, I'm out.

I don't think Atlanta would be a good argument for a "north vs. south driver" debate anyway. Drivers here come from literally all over the world - not just the north and south.
In terms of giving the finger or simply cussing like a sailor at someone, I'd say that I see that most from northerners, but in terms of "road rage", I'll give that honor to southerners - cutting people off when mad, etc... people I've known over the years who did that were almost always from the south (rural areas). Now whole debates could be made over the odd driving habits of foreigners who get a license and move here, but that's a can of worms. lol

Atlanta seems to keep moving up the list each year (for worst drivers). In 2005, Atlanta was actually ranked in the top 5 most courteous drivers, believe it or not. At this rate it could take Miami's title in a few years.

No, but it's a safe bet that when someone cuts you off who's driving a pickup with 4ft tall wheels and a bumper sticker that says, "the south will rise again", he's not from New York City. LOL

I got so tickled imagining you doing your Driver Hostility Poll...
"Do you prefer the 'horn and finger' technique, or is the 'Connector Cut-off' your favored method of road rage?"
"Yank or Rebel?"

I had to give a motorcyclist the finger the other day as I was walking down the sidewalk. He was passing a vehicle doing the speed limit in a no passing zone (and a school zone, no less) just so he could gun it down the street as fast as possible. He gave me the finger back. Unfortunately, he did not lose control of his bike.

I suppose cell phone use also includes texting? Scary sight to see drivers doing that!

I love how we're constantly being admonished by motorcyclists to watch out for them..."Motorcyclists Are Everywhere", blah blah blah....and yet IMO a good portion of them are the most flagrant violators of the road rules around.
