Townhome market in Alpharetta appears to be doing well. As far as new vs used that one is mostly up to you. You will probably get more sq footage in used but more upgrades in new. If you are handy and want to do upgrades and invest time and money you can probably do good on used. Alpharetta is a great area. Good luck in your search. Please post if we can be of any more help.

There are some great town home communities off exit 11 - Fairview, Morris Lake, Deerfield Green, Windward Square (and more) - depends on your price range.

Here’s an article on CNN.com about Alpharetta being the #1 city in the nation with the best housing market potential. As far as home builders, those prices that you see are merely their asking prices. |

If resale value is very important to you, I would avoid buying a townhome in Alpharetta. You will probably be able to sell it eventually, but not at a big profit. The problem is that Alpharetta is very family-friendly, and almost none of those families will be looking at your townhome. Your market will be mainly limited to young professionals and empty-nesters.
Townhomes do best in areas where there is a big gap between townhome prices and house prices. Therefore, young professionals are forced to buy townhomes because they cannot afford houses. This in turn drives up prices. In Alpharetta, there isn't a big price gap, so you won't see much appreciation. In the end though, not everything is about resale value. If you really love the townhome and you're getting a great deal, go for it. |
