Default mccar homes lakeside preserve in atlanta

I'm new to atlanta and looking for a new home to purchase. I've read many of the negative posts about mccar homes in charlotte but didn't find many negative posts about mccar homes in atlanta. Many of the posts seemed to be about 2 years old. Is mccar doing anything differently? Does anyone know anything about problems buyers have had with lakeside preserve in south fulton or other mccar homes in the atlanta area. Before reading any of this posts, I was pretty much settled on this community and planned to have a home built there because it meets my needs in terms of price, location and appeal but after reading the posts, i'm absolutely terrified of making a commitment on a mccar home. Also can anyone tell me how mccar's HOA compares with other builders. I understand that the HOA fees for this community are currently $720 annually but worry how much this will go up after the community is complete. I have no experience with HOAs and don't know to look for and what to avoid. Thanks to all who can provide insight into this dilemma.

I bought an MDC (McCar) home 5 years ago in Atlanta. I have also read some of the negative posts about Charlotte (and a few in Atlanta), but my experience has been good. The few problems that I had were addressed during the 1st year inspection and two years later they came and fixed a gutter problem. I would purchase from them again FYI.

As for the HOA, I can't really remember what happened during the first year. Our HOA was picked up by our own community after the first year. I'm guessing these would vary subdivision by subdivision. Our HOA is kind of a stickler for keeing things nice and tidy, but I LOVE that. I don't want this area to start looking junky... and it doesn't. We've actually made some very cool improvements to the land that a lax HOA probably wouldn't have bothered with.

I have dealt with them on multiple occasions; I would not be dissuaded to buy from them, so long as you move forward wisely. My advice for the purchase of any new home by any home builder would be to get the home inspected at the pre-drywall & final stages. What’s more, make sure they actually make the corrections, if any, that are code violations. Those items that are recommended by your inspector can be negotiated too; and get a true home inspector to do the job.

Whether it’s mccar homes are any other builder, you have to hold them accountable during the entire transaction.

idk much about the quality of the homes, but I do know that lakeside preserve is awesome. You can't beat the price you pay for the proximity to Atlanta. Plus, great amanities are on their way, and I'm sure the home will be sturdily built
