Default Moving to Atlanta

I am moving to Atlanta in the next few weeks and am looking for some advice on where to move. A little bit about me, I'm a single white male 29 yr old. I'm moving to Atlanta to take a work from home sales engineer position. I have lived in KC, Charlotte and Philly. I would like to live in an area that has a lot of other young professionals, apartment choices, nearby nightlife (very important to have a few nice pubs and lounges around), possibly mixed use zoning, good parking (Philly sucks for parking) and decent highway access. I know that traffic is a major concern for most people but not really for me. I will usually be traveling out of town for a week at a time and I'm not planning on leaving at rush hour times.

I am currently looking at Smyrna, Vinings, Sandy Springs, Buckhead and Atlanta North of the 85 / 75 intersection. I am not interested in living more than a few miles outside the perimeter. I would prefer to be inside the perimeter.

I have heard that Buckhead and Midtown have a lot of the cool nightlife so being relatively nearby would be preferred.

PLEASE DON'T USE NEIGHBORHOOD OR SUBDIVISION NAMES. I DON'T KNOW ALL OF THEM YET. PLEASE PROVIDE CROSS STREETS IN RECOMMENDATIONS.

Thanks for your help!

You would probably like Virginia-Highland (cross streets of Virginia AV and Highland AV - go figure!), Inman Park, Cabbagetown (artsy area becoming trendy and new development going on around the Memorial Drive corridor. Also East Atlanta around the East Atlanta village is getting better.

VA- Highland is more established like Buckhead and Midtown - the other areas I mentioned above are all more "on the edge" so to speak, but definetly trending in the right direction. Also Decatur is not that bad either for stuff to do. And its right on the MARTA train line too for airport access.

Thanks for the help. I was informed from someone who is kinda familiar with the area. He told me once you start to go East of Buckhead it is heavy traffic. He said I might like the old VA Highland. Of course he did inform me that VA Highland and Midtown might be more "artsy" than I'd like.

I will take a closer look at East Atlanta.

What does another think of the area between West Paces, Peachtree, 75 and 85?

My best friend was sent to Atlanta 3 yrs ago from Cali and she loves it. She didnt have a ton to work with money-wise but her apartments great in a suburb called Lithia Springs. She says its a short drive to her work in Atlanta and the place is awesome where she lives. I just cant remember the name of it, I dont think there are a ton of them in Lithia tho, but its along nature walk trails.
