You'll probably want to research high schools and pick one or two that best suit your kids -- many high schools have special programs so finding the one(s) that suit your needs the best will help you narrow down neighborhoods. Inside the perimeter you have DeKalb county, City of Atlanta, and a few Fulton county schools. That link I pasted above will show you rankings based on scores, but if you start another thread specifically about good high schools inside the perimeter you'll get lots of opinions and probably will quickly amass information about special programs offered at specific schools (much easier than doing a lot of research).

Your budget is ample or even generous for the vast majority of neighborhoods in this area. The only places that might be beyond it are Ansley Park, Druid Hills, and parts of the 30327 zip code.

Please check the recent reviews of Lakeside High School at greatschools. While not a totally accurate picture, all is not so well there.

Only time will tell if the community can pull itself together and work as one for the school.
