Can anyone give me the pros and cons of these 2 counties?

We have 2 young children, so schools are a priority.

Public schools in Forsyth County are rated tops in the state, attracting quite a few newcomers to the area who work in the northern Atlanta suburbs. Student test results are high when considering expenditures of only about $8159 per student in the 2009-2010 school year. Real estate taxes are low. For ratings of schools in the county, go to Education.com to see for yourself.

I am retired and over age 65. That means that I no longer pay school taxes as part of the real estate tax bill in Forsyth County. There is no assessment value limit as to the value of my home for this exception in Forsyth County. In Cherokee County, that exception from paying school taxes starts at age 62, but there is a limit of around $330,000 in assessment exclusion. Forsyth County has better recreational opportunities than Cherokee County, much the result of the fact that voters in Forsyth County approved a $100,000,000 bond for parks and recreation a few years ago, much of which has been spent.
