Going to be working at Emory Crawford Long Hospital and Grady Hospital and want to live somewhere close. My wife will also probably be working downtown in the the nearby suburbs. We have a 15 month old who we will need to have in daycare. Can anyone suggest possible areas to live.

We want to rent initially with a rent range of $1500-2000 (give or take a few hundred). We are looking for 3+ bedrooms, 2+ baths and off-street parking for 2 cars.

Thanks in advance, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Forgot to mention, we found a place in Smyrna around the corner of East-West Connector and S. Cobb Dr. (around silver creek trail park). Is this a reasonable drive. Will be going to the hospitals at various times of the day and night.

Looking for a short drive (~30 minutes).

jmo, that is too far away but some of the Smyrna people, like Atlantagreg may have other thoughts.

You might like my neighborhood/Briarcliff Heights, NE Atlanta. Older/50's houses, many renovated, renting in your price range. Located on about 1/3 acre lots, close to the main campus of Emory and you would have several alternative routes. 20-30 minute commute--most of the time. N. Druid Hills Rd/Briarcliff Rd area. Many Emory people live here--young couples, single professionals and a few of us who have been around for decades--LOL. We have some nice trees and it is good for walking/strolling a baby.

LovinDecatur knows a good bit about the area and she might have some additional FYI for you. IntownGuru knows the area --intown--which is very close to Crawford Long.

As for daycare--there is a daycare in the neighborhood I don't know much about it--they have been in business for at least a decade.

There are plenty of good options through churches in the area.

Thanks for the feedback. Are there any of those areas that have townhomes and/or parks with bike trails? Thanks in advance.

In the Briarcliff Heights area there are some townhomes 'Bristol at/on Briarcliff' --the sign says: 'From $300,000'. Mason Mill Park is nearby/off Clairmont/N. Druid Hills. They have a tennis center, dog park and there is an area adjacent to that with trails for hiking/biking. They are in the process of completing a PATH project to connect Mason Mill Park to Medlock Park.

There is another park nearby--W.D. Thomson Park off Mason Mill Rd. where you can take dogs and walk in the woods.

I cannot remember the name of the book/published last year about ?? Peachtree Creek/and tributaries but this is all part of Fernbank Forest --if you are interested in learning more about the area.

Onyxhawk, the neighborhoods of Inman Park, Candler Park, and Lake Claire have townhomes, as well as single family detached homes, with plenty of parks and bike trails, including P.A.T.H. I live in the Candler Park neighborhood with my husband and almost 2nd grader (son). It's a wonderful family place to live and it's on MARTA so you ccan get to Crawford Long Easy.

See this link for a map of these neighborhoods:

The city of Decatur is just east of these neighborhoods and has the same thigns to offer...but it is it's own city.

Your budget would find you something with your needs in these areas.
