Umm, I think the Camera got bumped or blown by the wind or something, all I see is what appears to be a close up of the tower it's mounted on...

I saw that! First time I've seen that view. Maybe the operators were checking the fasteners?
Try viewing now -- a nice, mild day here after a couple of rainy ones.

Ah-ha- you have to click on the button and then it updates. Very very nice- is that a view of the main downtown district? So is Midtown more of a place for recreation versus businesses? What's the difference?

No the office cluster you are seeing in the shot is 14th street which is the main drag in Midtown. The high museum is just north of the shot (it's in the picture, just blocked by other buildings). The vertical street on the lower right of the picture is Peachtree which is the most prestigious street in Atlanta and connects downtown, midtown and buckhead. Midtown is basically like a downtown but it developed later. Both have lots of offices, condos, bars and restaurants. Midtown has the High museum and is closer to Georgia Tech. Downtown has most of the hotels, the aquarium, Phillips Arena, the Georgia Dome, the World of Coke and the CNN Center. Atlanta's tallest building, the Bank of America Tower (6th largest in US, 24th largest in the world) and the Fox Theater are on North Avenue which is the dividing line between Downtown and Midtown.

At the time of this posting, it looks as if the TowerCam operators have zoomed over rooftops, trying to show us a colorful sunset out Douglas County way. I love the cityscape views at night.

You might enjoy these great views of the city from the construction webcam for TWELVE Centennial Park. You can select earlier views from the day and even zoom in on the construction of the second tower.
