Default Moving to Atlanta

Considering a move to Atlanta near Emory. Can anyone comment on the crime rate in City of Dacatur, Oak Grove- Briarcliff, Druid Hills?

These are all very safe neighborhoods...probably some of the safest inside I-285.

If you can afford it, Druid Hills is one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city and directly adjacent to Emory.

The others are all reasonably safe for families. I'd personally worry more about traffic and schools within the areas you mentioned. Not that they are necessarily a problem, just that those factors would change more from area to area.

A lot depends on your expectation, ie where you are coming from.

We are coming from Middleton WI, just outside Madison. More of a suburban feel here. We are looking for a more suburban feel around Emory if possible. Sounds like crime in those areas are low in comparison to other areas in Atlanta. Just wanted to see if others who have lived in these areas feel unsafe living there.

I've lived off Houston Mill, almost adjacent to the Emory property, for six years and we have never had a problem. There have been many nights when I have accidently left the car open and wallet on the console with no problems. There have even been days when we left the house unlocked and nothing was disturbed. I wouldn't do it as a matter of habit, but it is nice to be in such a safe area. Some of the neighborhoods off Houston Mill have an almost rural feel to them, in my opinion.
