This morning about 8:30am I stepped out my front door to go fetch the newspaper from the driveway. A chipmunk who had been sitting on the front step scuttled off the step and under a bush. A rabbit hopped from the front path into some undergrowth (my front yard needs some gardening attention). The birds were twittering away as usual. I couldn't help thinking it's a little like living in a Disney set here, at times.

That's probably the best thing about Atlanta and it's suburbs - the tree canopy and all that it brings!

I woke up this morning to the sound of birds chirping in the rain. I regularly get butterflies and hummingbirds in my garden. A few months ago I found a snake warming itself on my backyard rockwall.

Apparently coyote sightings are on the rise in the metro area.

The squirrels' antics on the wall next to my office window keep me entertained all day.

I just discovered that a family of armadillos is living under my house on St Simons...my girls used to love chasing armadillos through the yard when we would stay down there...that was hysterical to watch.

Yes I am amazed to see humming birds in the city! I have several chipmunks that live in the yard. It drives my indoor cats crazy!!!

I think there was a possum living in my crawlspace and then moved into the duct work last year . I had the entire run removed as fleas were coming into the house via the vent in the living room!

Atlanta: The City in a Forest.

My favorite thing about Atlanta (including metro).

My cat brought me a prize - a chipmunk on my doorstep. I was sad for the little rodent....

With all of the chipmunks, birds of prey are becoming more common as well. I've been hearing from friends who've watched hawks catching small animals in Dunwoody, and others getting buzzed by owls in Druid Hills.

Pretty cool!

I never saw a chipmunk before moving here. They're cute.
