Best deals: LCD TV, Computer, etc
Anyone know where to get the best deals in the city or online for electronics/furniture. I've tried the following:
Sears Outlet
HHGregg
Overstock
Brandsmart
TJMaxx

I always make a trip to Brandsmart to check out their prices before I buy anything like that. Then, I usually wind up buying from there.

Amazon.com

Free shipping and no tax in GA can save a lot of money vs buying from a physical place like Best Buy or Brandsmart.

I love Samsung LCD's so we have purchased all four of ours from Electronics Expo. They are based out of New Jersey and will ship to Georgia. No sales tax.

I just got the best deal of all the above mentioned places, from HHGregg on a top of the line tv - $150 less than anyone else's "best price," which was already $700 under list. The cost of shipping from NY or anyhwere else for that matter, was the same as local tax, so avoiding shipping in this case was a no-brainer. HHGregg is on commission, so shop first, tell them what you want, where you've been, and the price they need to beat, cause you're buying today. If they can beat it, they will.

I buy most electronics from Amazon, (like my Mac, computer components, videogames etc)... but for TV's (and computer monitors) i MUST see it in person. So, i typically go to Brandsmart for my TV's. They seem to always be cheaper than most of the big box stores (bestbuy, CC, lol HHGregg). Plus you can talk them down some. As for computer components i don't want to get online, I like Microcenter and Fry's.

HHGregg will actually haggle lately. I think on a corporate level they're hurting because I've known two people who have gone in and had salespeople knock down the price of certain TVs by hundreds of dollars (below other stores) to make a sale.
Brandsmart is what I consider my "cheap junk I need" store. Need a $12 toaster? They have it. A $5 hair drier? Yep. A $19 DVD player? Got that too. Thing is - some of it does kind of fall into the "imported junk" category, but sometimes you do just need something to get by with, and Brandsmart is the place for that stuff. Just don't leave the stuff plugged in when you're not using it (I consider cheap import electronics fire risks if unattended due to experience).
That being said, remember, Costco now automatically gives you a 90 day return policy and a two year warranty on all TVs and computers. Plus a call-in tech line that's U.S. based and staffed by experienced trained people if you need it. Sam's Club and BJs Club don't offer the free extended warranties and they're not as pro-staffed. Costco's only shortfall is a lack of huge selection. Unless I'm desperate for a specific model of something though, I always wait to see if Costco gets it first.
I would never buy a TV or computer online even if it saves me a few bucks. These days there are just too many "dead on arrival" or defective junky things out there and shipping something like that back is a pain in the butt. The convenience of being able to take something back to a store physically is worth any saved money (to me).

HHGregg will most definitely bargain with you. A year ago I got $300 knocked off the price of the Panasonic 50" 720p plasma just by asking. It's amazing how many people just pay the price b/c that's what it says...everything is negotiable, especially in this day and age. Things that seem to help is showing that you are willing to buy today, but also just as willing to walk away. Make sure you are armed with some prices from other stores to show that you know what you are talking about.
I believe Sears gives you 10% off if you sign up for one of their cards, so you can get some immediate savings right there. I've also heard of them negotiating AND giving the 10% off with the new card for a nice savings.
