what should i know about union city??
have been interviewing for a job in tucker, but got a call today, saying there was another opening with the company (for more $$) in union city. what can you guys tell me about union city, and would the drive from midtown be about equal in time for both. i know they are both about the same distance from midtown, but wasnt sure about the traffic patterns. i am a little suspicious of the offer for more money, since the job is the same. makes me think there may be something i should know about union city.

Union City is not a really popular suburb of Atlanta. To be honest, I never been out there before, but it is in South Fulton County which is expriencing a "rebirth" after years of being neglected. However, if you are traveling from Midtown to Union City, traffic should not be as bad. You will be going against traffic.

Union City is a blighted suburb that definitely had seen better days. I had worked there before though my gig was just for a few months: I never really felt unsafe, and it is very convenient right off I-85. For you, the drive to either one is against rush hour traffic, so I would opt for Union City over Tucker (especially if it paid more) - I think distance wise to compare both is pretty negligible. My drive to Union City from downtown Atlanta was a breeze, I wish I still had a reverse commute like that.

Union city isn't the nicest suburb in Atlanta, but increased development has made the area more attractive. Shannon Mall, the main retail hub, has been named Union Station and is getting better. Still, there is great shopping close by in newnan. p'tree city and Atlanta. The areas around hwy 138 is pretty bad but oakley industrial blvd and flat shoals rd is actually pretty nice. And of course- the commute is awesome, for now.

Union City is okay
Not great. Not beautiful. But Union City is okay. Your drive to Union City will be an easier drive and a quicker drive than a drive to Tucker would be. Union City is right on I-85. Tucker is a few miles away from I-85. And there is less traffic south of Atlanta. After thinking about it, Tucker is not great. Not beautiful. But Tucker is okay. It's a tie, so if the salary is going to be higher at the job in Union City then go for it!

If you end up in Union City, you might want to look at the area they just took over near 92. It's on the border to Fairburn, but a lot of houses in the area are nice, and are close to 85.
