Default Is East Cobb the nicest/safest area to raise a family?

Considering a relo.....Money won't be an issue, but want good schools ( seems impossible from what I read) and a nice involved community. I will be a SAHM and would like to be around others. Also, how much is private school?

It's certainly one of the best.

So, in E.Cobb, you still need private schools? What are we talking here? How do you search form homes in this area? Can't pull it up on realtor.com
thanks

People will need more info about you to help you narrow down an area. Marietta was at the top of my list when I decided to relocate to GA. But after visiting the place it wasn't for me. You might want to check out the area first to see if it is to your liking. I prefer the Roswell and Alpharetta areas over Marietta.

I would search using a realtors website that you can search by high school (or whatever school you pick).

You can start with Walton...my understanding is that is the best or one of the best high schools in Georgia. Search for homes that are zoned for that school.

Just remember that traffic is awful here...try to live as close to work as possible!

East Cobb is a great area, they have great public schools. I would not even waste my money on private schools. My aunt and uncle have lived there for several years and my cousins all went to the same great schools. You should try using Ziprealty.com, it is an excellent search engine for homes. I hate using Realtor.com.

Try starting with a search for zip code 30067 or 30068.

Public schools in East Cobb are top of the line in terms of Georgia public schools. There are also great schools in Forsyth County as well and North Fulton. However, as with everyone else, the general advice is locate where your job will be first, then look at the surrounding areas. You do not want to live in East Cobb if you are going to be working, say, in Suwanee or Lawrenceville.

What's your criteria?

New or existing?
Price range?

If money really isn't an issue I wouldn't consider East Cobb. Move to Buckhead, Vinnings or Brookhaven and go private. Pretty much everyone I know who is wealthy does this. Private school will run between 14k and 22k.
