Default Racism?

Hi, I'm graduating from high school in 2010and i am considering going to college in Georgia so I can live with my uncle while I study. I just wanted to ask if there's any racism in the Atlanta area/suburbs because I'm of a African American ethnicity.

To find racists you would need to go to the smaller towns outside of metro Atlanta.

Even then unless you wanted to provoke them there wouldn't be 'problems'.

Many transplants from all over the US are now living in Georgia, not that most of the native citizens are 'Racists' in general. There are clusters--very small towns where people have known each other for years are 'cliquish' at times but since this is the Bible Belt most people know better than to judge others on superficial criteria.

Now, if you go into smaller towns and say, 'I'm from Atlanta' you might get some attitude. Hopefully that is changing, too. Since Governor Perdue, first Republican governor since reconstruction, IIRC--the emphasis has been on progress and improving the state's economy. So most people are doing better and are less concerned with 'blaming' others.

Georgia's economy for many years was primarily based on agriculture and to some extent manufactured goods such as textiles. The high tech industry began to move into the state and tourism is now big business so there are more jobs and choices for those who live here.

Racism is in every state south of the Canadian border from the blacks vs the hispanics in California to the blacks vs hispanics in Ny to the Cubans vs blacks/whites in Miami,etc....as long as u are a minority in America u will face racism. Racism is just as bad in the north as it is in the south. The yankees hide the racism more

There is racism everywhere. If you are asking if the Klan marches down the streets of Atlanta, or if I have had crosses burned on my front lawn , then answer would be no.

I agree with you on this one because I regularly see the question "I'm from this city and I'm this race, will the klan follow me around all day? I'm not being facetious either, I think it'll be a good idea to stick some demographic stats of the metro area and/or compare it with other metro areas in the US to insure Blacks, Whites, Asians, Latino(a)s, etc that Atlanta isn't a complete warzone. Maybe Atlantagreg, Georgia, BobKovaks, etc could do it.
