Try Fayette County Schools. I know the school my children go to have programs. Not every school in the county is set up. Only certain ones. But you have to live in Fayette County.

Default Concerned for special needs children....

Hello, like the other poster, I too have a special needs daughter age 11. I am moving to Gwinnett and wonder about programs. I am definately a fighter when it comes to her education. I know they have special ed programs and when your son comes to a new school his IEP will transfer. The IEP has to be excepted and if that school district can't offer the services, they have to transport them to a school who can serve him.
I think people give up to easy. The problem with private schools and special needs children (and I speak from experience) is that alot of them don't want them. What happens is they lower test scores and require more assistance than the others.
I wouldn't not move due to this, I would stay and fight for the education your son needs. I've had to fight for everything my daughter has recieved and I am assuming I will have to do it again once we get down there. My daughter has a brain injury and looks and acts normal until you know her. Then you realize, she is no where near normal. It has been hard because she is so good at "fitting in".
Hope that helps a little. I just didn't want you to get discouraged!
Remember...anything that is worth it is not easy!
