By what you are describing, Lenox/Buckhead is the best choice. My other suggestion would be Perimeter (Dunwoody), but the bar scene there seems less to me than in Buckhead.

An important thing to consider is your budget. Living in the middle of the action comes with a price.

Not sure of your price range but check out The Manhattan at Perimeter Place (Condos but some people rent) as well as Amli at Perimeter Place (rentals).

Brookhaven might be worth checking out as well. It has a lot of young professionals and some bars that are always packed (Hudson Grill and the Irish bar next to it). You'd have easy access to Marta and Buckhead, and your reverse commute up to Norcross would be 20-25 min on I-85.

I own a condo that I rent out on Lenox Rd.; the complex is crawling with twentysomething singletons.
So funny to me, as years ago when I bought it the complex seemed to be mostly middle aged divorcees.
