Default Roswell to Smyrna commute

I am seriously considering a job in Smyrna. The only problem? I live in Roswell... I am near the Houze/Hembree intersection.

Job will be near Windy Hill/Powers Ferry Road.

I've driven it around 3:30 pm, and it wasn't bad. I took 120 and other surface roads since I need a Valium and a week of counseling after negotiating the 400/285 interchange :-)

Does anyone drive this commute? What hours are killers? What hours are the best? I am seriously pitching some work from home days, but I will have to drive out there more than half of the week.

Does anyone use a van pool?

Sorry to begin yet another commuting thread!

You can either take 120 or Johnson Ferry to Paper Mill, then you can take Power's Ferry.

My s.o. used to commute that way to Alpharetta from our place in Smyrna. It's about 45 min. at best. I imagine it'll be a bit busier coming towards Cumberland.

Thanks! Just noticed your response today. I tried the drive around 2 pm on a weekday along the route you suggest. It took about 45 minutes, and that was in afternoon traffic... I strongly suspect it would take much longer in rush "hour" traffic.

I actually wrangled two offers--one in Smyrna, one in Norcross. I'm leaning toward the one in Norcross due to the better commute. I've driven that one around 5 pm, and it wasn't fun, but it wasn't that bad. I'm actually giving up a job where I work from home for a job where I need to drive. Crazy, I know, but I'm a contractor, and I want something permanent. The Norcross run seems perfectly do-able, and it is a permanent job. Pays slightly better--enough to cover the gas, anyhoo!

I had this commute for a year and I averaged about 45 minutes. I would try and avoid rush hour as much as possible leaving for/from work either a little early or late
