You have to be kidding... Terrible... you should look near a train station and use that.

Marietta is where i live. Its a very big city, so it depends on the area. I live near CUmberland Mall, closer to the edge of Marietta and it takes me 20-30 mins to get to the airport, the trick is to get a flight at a time where traffic isn't heavy - like early morning, and I mean early, or late in the evening, after 8pm.

You can take Camp Creek Parkway straight from Powder Springs and usually the traffic isn't bad, but it's a haul. I am also not sure how congested it gets during rush hour.

I live in Powder Springs. From the town center to the airport is 25 miles. Normally, it's around 40 or so minutes depending on how you drive. I've seen people do it in a bit less time if they're very lucky, traffic is light, and the lights are timed right. During rush hour(s) however, it can easily exceed over an hour depending on varying conditions (Atlanta traffic isn't exactly predictable). MARTA (rail) doesn't run out here so driving or a cab would be your only real options.
As far as places to rent - if you're talking about apartments, there are none. Powder Springs does not give permits to developers to build apartments here, so there are NO apartments anywhere in the town limits - literally. There are homes for rent here and there, but you'd just have to read Craigs List or look for the signs to find them since they're individually rented out by the home owners.
You can travel 3 miles East of Powder Springs to the "East/West Connector" area and there are apartment complexes along that road, but that would only add some more time to an airport commute.
