How about Noonan or LaGrange GA?
The company I work for has facilities in these two towns. Anyone here have experience in these places or surroundings?
My wife & I live in Phoenix, AZ. Wifey's a stockbrocker, I'm a manufacturing engineer. Contemplating a change of scenery; being closer to family in the Atl area.
Pros?
Cons?
Let 'er rip...

The name of the community that you refer to is Newnan, not Noonan...a lovely place.
La Grange...also lovely, but much more 'small town' and more removed from the Atlanta metro area than Newnan.
Please tell me that you don't always refer to your spouse as 'Wifey'...

I laughed at loud at you spelling! It was very whimsical....:-) Newnan has a lot more going on and is much closer to Atlanta than LaGrange. I was recently talking to a guy who grew up there and he said "there are only two kinds of people in LaGrange: Those who want to get out and those who are trying to keep people out." To me, that sums up the stifling effect it can have on worldy people and the cliquiness of old line LaGrange. That's just one person's perspective. I'm sure there are many good things that can be said about LaGrange. My biggest tip is always to look at the cities for yourself and evaluate them.

I've lived in both towns and pick Newnan hands down over Lagrange. We plan on moving back in the not too distant future. Newnan has so much more to offer.

Newnan is growing a lot and I expect LaGrange to grow a lot too over the next few years with the opening of the new Kia plant nearby. Traffic in Newnan can be pretty bad, a lot worse than LaGrange. I would choose Newnan because it's closer to Atlanta but LaGrange isnt a bad place either.

I live in Newnan and have visited La Grange many times, even last Saturday. LaGrange is a nice town but definitely much more small town, still a little hard to fit in I bet unless you are old timers. Newnan is growing with lots of people from everywhere. I know very few natives in our subdivision of SummerGrove. Having lived in north metro Atlanta for 20 odd years , I would say the traffic in Newnan is NOT BAD. Traffic in Huntsville, AL was worse! We have several executives with KIA buying houses down the street from me. It is an easy ride to LaGrange down I85. Near the airport, all Atlanta has to offer but you aren't right there. Unfortunately, I am moving back to Huntsville ! By the way, have a beautiful less than 2 year old house to sell at priced below market value and considerably less than we paid for it. In the best part of SummerGrove. You can get good buys right now in housing.

We were checking out homes in both areas over the Holiday weekend.
Both towns are AWESOME!
Everyone was really nice and accomodating. Of course with our different accents, we were constantly asked: "Where y'all from"?
I'm a Yooper and my wife was born & raised in New Mexico. New Mexicans have a kinda "Texas Drawl" and us Yoopers sound like Canucks.
Bonus points for you Georgians that know what a "Yooper" is.

I grew up much closer to Yooperland (just on the other side of Wisconsin), so I prolly don't deserve points. Although I don't know how many Minnesotans would know. I've heard the term before, tho. Very pretty country in the U.P.

Well, I have lived in Wisconsin and visited MN alot ! Yaz, you would like our neighborhood here in Newnan. I have met people from the upper Midwest and actually it is very diverse with most from somewhere else in the US and the world.don't know if you got to SummerGrove in Newnan but you should. Lots of ammenities and good locale and people of all ages for you to fit in. If you would like to see our house, let me know. There are bargains with the housing market. Even if you don't want to see ours, ask me about areas and I will let you know the truth. We have some neighbors who just moved from Arizona with Airtran and another from Washington state along with some native Georgians along with Floridians, and Virginians. ALl just on one street!!! Glad that you liked our area!
