I've lived in Clayton County for 40 years. I didn't realize until I went back & read some of the post that there appears to be so much racism here. I read a few months ago in a local paper "minority business ownership up 70%" I kept reading as I see around me most of the new business's are foreign or newly relocated to the U.S. thus who is the minority? I couldn't get a loan to open one. I read here "whites" are fleeing [you know the rest], sorry I'm not fleeing nor racist, although tired of reverse discrimination.

I'm in Rex, right off 42 on the corner of a short st. that has only 4 homes each side & the dead end is all woods. Point being that thugs, thieves or any raging maniac would have a great hiding spot to lurk or plot a break in, rape, torture, whatever if they so chose to. Nothing even close in my 20+ yr.s here, the households have changed with the ratio of 2 Hispanic, 2 African American, 2 Caucasian, 1 Laotian[?] & 1 empty [for rent], a nail salon across owned & ran by Vietnamese, store at the corner is owned & ran by a family from Iran. Who is we? What & where do the problems stem from? Tell me what you really think before you go west, I would really like to know. Stats show that most gun owners are shot by their own guns.

Default Stay out of clayton county if you have kids!!!!!!!!!

Clayton county school board is a joke. They are going to lose thier accredidation in sept. and they argue over everything. The crime is outrageous and traffic is terrible. Suggest Henry county or anywhere else.
Marta is a good choice for getting to the airport and living somewhere other than Clayton County. The Police force down their is a joke and racists. They are always in the news.

CLAYTON COUNTY IS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO LIVE!!!!!

The school board needs work, no argument there, they always have and always will when they're not working for the students best interest but more concerned about lining their own pockets. I'm not talking about the teachers God bless them. You gotta be kidding!, to suggest Henry they have about as much over crowding, student teacher ratio, etc. The traffic & crime is as bad. I don't know when you were last in Clayton Co. per your police force down there is a joke & racist, I'm white & none of the CCPD officers that I have ever been stopped by, questioned by, assisted by in any way have even been rude to me & by the way none of them were white. They did clean house a few years ago. There's a new sheriff in town I hope he stays!

I'm looking to be in a more rural area. I have kids, I want them to be able to go outside and run without being in a high traffic area etc. Any suggestions?
Morrow or jonesboro or rex or ellenwood or lake city!! Kid friendly places. I would not reccommend Lawrenceville or that area.

The biggest problem with what you wrote is that the person said they had to be 45 minutes away from the airport, which is practically impossible from any of those parts of Clayton Co. wouldn't recommend Lawrenceville either, as it most certainly isn't in Clayton Co. as Clayton Co. was what the writer was wanting for a future home.

Have lived in Clayton County about 5 MILES FROM THE FAYELLEVILLE AREA for 20+ YEARS. Fayetteville is still nice, the way it used to be here. The last 10 years have been hell. We are trying to move, can't afford it right now.

Our once quite middle class neighborhood is overrun by unruly and some really mean teenagers, some seem to have gang mentality and don't shy away from making threats. I've been trying to reach out to the youth and have teachable moments but learned that there are some really mean and vicious kids out there and the parents are the same, it's so useless.

Yesterday when I told some of them to stay off my property, I caught one messing around with my fence, he ran off when he saw me. I have an obscured gate and from what I heard some of them say (they talk very loud, relay shout all the all time, they were trying to figure out how to get in. About 10 teens stayed in front of my house talked about "taking me on", knowing someone with a 12 gauge, and bringing "lots of people".

I called the police in the past about similar stuff, but it only gets me more trouble when police leaves, I had my car window smashed, my siding pelted with tomatoes and the constant presence of 10+ teens that cuss and curse and shout for hours at the time. My average middle class neighborhood has become ghetto. Most of "socially well behaved" people have left.

Many of the residence of the projects in Atlanta have been relocaded to Clayton county, Mayor Franklin wanted to have more business complexes build so they send the projects to Clayton county because of affordable housing. So you really have to check good and hard. Drive around after school hours and see where a lot of cars are parked in front of houses and lots of people hang in the streets. But you have to do it for a while. My street can be quiet for days and then all hell breaks lose like it did yesterday. I mailed a letter to chief Turner and Sheriff Kimbrough today explaining and asking for some patrols after school hours, I'll see if anything will be done. We had it and my husband is afraid to leave me alone at home.

Fayetteville is still better but close to Lovejoy or Jonesboro or Riverdale you want to move at your own risk it's all moving south. In ten years Northern Fayetteville will be just like my area is now. I am in between Lovejoy and Jonesboro off Tara Blvd. We are going to be out of here as soon as we can buy another one somewhere else.
