Oh please and get over yourself. You're just mad because everyone isn't embracing your theory about how influential Austin is because of the SXSW festival. This thread was about Atlanta vs. Houston. Not Austin...
I'm not the least bit mad. On the contrary, I proved my point and am quite pleased.
Back to the subject, I think people throughout the world are more familiar with things relating to Atlanta, good and bad, than Houston. Atlanta Braves, '96 Olympics (including the bombing), MLK, Jr., Ted Turner, CNN, Coke, Hartsfiled Airport, Delta Airlines, Michael Vick, Stone Mountain (if we can include Metro Atlanta), Gone with the Wind, Ray Lewis, Outcast, Black Crowes, Elton John's adopted home, HBCUs, Sonny Perdue's Flag Flap (I know for a fact that people outside the US know about this), etc.

Haha, you didn't prove anything.
And the next part in your post has been discussed in this thread and the one in the General US time and time again.

Reason: Added the above post.
I think Atlanta is certainly more known internationally (Olympics) and from all of the Fortune 500 companies based in Atlanta, but I agree that Houston actually ha a more internationaly population. IT certainly feels more cosmopolitan and diverse than Atlanta.

Besides, both cities are well-known and famous in their own special way. Houston has the energy industry, NASA, the biggest medical center in the world, etc.
Atlanta is known for transportation (Delta), Coca-Cola, Martin Luther King, etc.
Having visited Houston many times and as a current resident of Atlanta, I can certainly say that Houston feels a lot more cosomopolitan than Atlanta. I found it to be a lot more diverse and international than most parts of Metro Atlanta.
If you can name one thing about Houston that outshines Hank Aaron, I will stop posting on this thread.
Earl Campbell, or Hakeem Olajuwon. Nolan Ryan is up there, too.
Hakeem the Dream is definitely the winner out of the Houston bunch. Overall, Houston kills Atlanta in sports figures. Sorry. You even had Ray Lewin in there for Atlanta. I'll put Mike Singletary or even Michael Strahan for Houston.

Up there, but not good enough. I'm not talking about "overall". I'm talking specifics. No sports figure in Houston can touch Hank Aaron.
I put Ray Lewis in my list because he's a murderer, not because he's a sports star. Same goes for Michael Vick...dog murderer. Both of those guys brought international attention to Atlanta. Negative attention, but attention nonetheless.

Oh yeah, as long as Atlanta gets attention (negative or not), its okay in your book.
I already named a sports figure that can touch Hank Aaron....Hakeem Olajuwon. Go look at Hakeem's specifics and stats. Though, it will be hard since they played different sports, but both are legendary in their respective sports. Just like Hank Aaron had the homerun record, Hakeem has the all-time NBA blocks record. Hakeem was a beast and just raw all over.

Pay atention.
From the first post in this thread:
"What city a has both a greater national and international name recognition:Atlanta or Houston.Which do you know more about and which do you think the average world citizen knows more about?and why?It can be a negative or positive thing"

Obviously you weren't paying attention in English class.
