Default Renters Market

i'm thinking of purchasing a townhouse in Alpharetta to rent out. Is there much of a market for that?

If you want to lose money, sure. There is a glut of new townhomes in Alpharetta and there have been quite a few price drops in the subdivisions I have seen. Plus Alpharetta doesn't have the demographics to be a strong townhouse rental market. Families generally want single-family homes.

thanks for the replies. i kind of figured that it would be difficult to do that in Alpharetta. I have a townhouse there and I would like to sell it in the near future.

It varies, but be warned. If you're doing the "craigs list trend" and trying to buy up properties to flip-rent, then it's being overdone BIG TIME in this region, and the market in most areas is saturated with condos, homes, and townhomes that are being leased by "long distance landlords" otherwise called "investors".

Unless you find a complete dumpy fixer-upper CHEAP, and do all the work yourself, it isn't the market to be in right now to try to make a profit on renting properties.
