Have you been to check out the school for yourself? I don't know much about the school. My cousin's daughters are at South Gwinnett HS (which I believe is in that cluster) and have been very happy there.

Well, I live in the Snellville Middle School district and certainly do not see my neighborhood clearing out because of it. My neighbors can afford to send their children anywhere they want to yet most still go to the public schools.
I agree with LovinDecatur, go check it out, stop listening to what people rant about, usually they have no idea what they are talking about. Also, drive around the area that feeds into that school and look at the pride people have in their homes and the way most of them conduct themselves. I think someone could do far worse than the school cluster here.

To chime in with the rest, usually we get what we expect. If you think your child will have problems because she is white, she will. In our increasingly global society, it is a competitive advantage for a child to grow up with people from different nationalities and backgrounds. My oldest went to an international school, and she still raves about the benefits she received from growing up in the environment.

I've heard only good things about Snellville Middle School. I have several friends whose kids attend or have attended Snellville Middle and they can afford private schools, but have been very happy with the public schools in that cluster. Sounds like a bunch of paranoia from the neighbors to me.

Very well put. It's important for people to realize this.

My child survived
As with ALL schools, some are always safer than others. My daughter survived 3 years at SMS and my son has 2 years to go. The administration works hard to ensure the safety of your child. My biggest complaint is how they treat the students. They lead them from class to class (especially connections), the lockers are in the home room classes, so if your child forgets to get their book, work etc out, than they cant go back and get it out of their locker because they will be disturbing another class in session. They do this to prevent harm coming to any of the students, but they are not preparing them for HS. In HS its free reign and they are not treated like little kids. SMS needs to let a little bit of free reign in and let the kids do some growing up.
All I can say is except for the PE uniform policy at SGHS, I am sooo glad that one of my children is out of SMS and we are counting down the days until the 2nd one is out

First, LOL, too funny to hear that YOU are afraid for your child to be a "minority" in school. Hopefully your child doesn't have the same fears already before she actually starts school.
Second, I have always been the "minority" in school, in life, at work, at the bank, etc. You just learn to deal with it. If you know that you have every right to be where you are, there should be no problem. You should train your child from young to embrace diversity rather than fearing it.
Third, I'm curious to know what you "have heard alot" about? And more specifically, how it relates to race.
Fourth, for all the people in the world who say that racism ( not the lynching, racial slur type racism, but the modern day racism where different equals scary whether its brown, black, or red) doesn't still exist, your comment, innocent as it was, shows that it still does.

WOAH... I can see why you are worried about public schools. I bet you could benefit from Snellville Middle School curriculum!
