Wrong again. I have African-American friends as well as other nationalities. I have worked for African-American supervisors who were nice. I moved to a diverse area for diversity not someone saying that others are racist. If you have a graduate degree or two-act it. Don't hide behind your insecurities and call other people racist when in fact perhaps, you may have to reexamine whether your really accepting of others. Once again, the race card is brought up in Hotlanta. That's why it's so hot down here.

but you were the one who brought up racial discrimination! And whether or not you have black friends is beside the point. Your comment suggested that you feel discriminated against, which suggests that you feel uncomfortable, which is something that I hear pretty often from white people in Atlanta and which I think is a symptom of an unhelpful perspective. Folks in the majority often perceive movement toward equality by folks in the minority as a loss and a threat. That's what I heard in your comment. Which is why I say get over it.

As a whole I prefer St. Louis and Chicago over Atlanta for many reasons. One thing I did love about Atlanta was ALTA. The tennis there is amazing. |

No, I don't agree that having African-American friends are beside the point. It exemplies that even though one may have African-American friends, a person can still be discriminated against. It has nothing to do with pulling out a race card, playing poker or whatever. It is interesting that when certain nationalities bring up discrimination, it's discounted like it does not exist. However, when a person of another group does not get there way and throw a temper, then everyone is suppose to be quiet and bow down to the other. I happily disagree.
If you love Hotlanta, great. If you disagree with why someone does not like Hotlanta based upon some years of experience, then start a thread called why I love Atlanta, come on down you'll love it. As far as someone bringing up the race card, yes that is common here. That is why some people have second thoughts about moving here, some people never move here, and others want to leave. If you want to be a racial activist-you'll fit right in the Atl. If you want to play the race card then maybe you should move to Vegas and play poker. However, it may be a good idea to leave your "stacked" cards in Atlanta because the Pit Boss would throw you out of the casino. Good Luck... Final Answer |

The problem with the regime in the City of Atlanta is that they're not doing a good job, and the short term history has been one of corruption and fiscal mismanagement. How can a city wake up one day and "discover" that they city has over $100 million in surprise deficit? |
