Plaza Grand in Henry County?
Anybody have info on this building expansion that is set to take place on Eagle's Landing Parkway? Looks like it could be similiar to Atlantic Station(on a smaller scale). Should be good for the county's economy. Just wondering when it will be done.

Yes, I have heard of it infact just passed the big sign for it the other day.. not sure when it will be done tho, think a few more years..?? Not sure about the economy or not, I guess would be good. But the thing with Henry county in general it is not a very wealthy county over all at least right now it is not. So I think the hopes are that some day it will change to be more upscale.
Just rumors tho.. so who knows..?

Keeping that in mind, do you think it is a good idea to invest in a home in Henry county? I'm always thinking about resale. My alternative is Fayette county but, it just looks so rural! And why is it so expensive? Most of the homes are way older.

fayette county school reputation alone is a good home investment.. The idea that henry county itself is a good home investment sortof boggles my mind b/c there is sooo much new construction going on. It is really hard to sell a resale right now, there is just so much out there to choose from..
I think all the "visions" they have are good, and time will tell, but I think it will be a long time.. Most of our friends who have sold houses here have only made about 20-30k profit in about 5-7 years, It's ok but when you consider people up north are making 100k+ profit then it's not so good.

I know houses stay on the market like forever in Henry county! That's really not much of a profit considering I have never stayed in a home more that 5 years. Thanks.

This area is somewhat puzzling to me--it began to grow in the mid/late 80's but hasn't progressed as much as I thought it would.

From Henry County's 'Our Future in Motion' site:
http://www.ourfutureinmotion.net/challenge.htm
Did you know about the following trends in Henry County?
Population, Development, and Commuting:
Sixth-fastest growing County in the United States
Two-to-one ratio of population to jobs
Two out of three people commute to jobs outside the County (23.4% to Fulton County; 22.4% to Clayton County, and 9.3% to DeKalb County)
Two-thirds of the County is vacant or undeveloped land
Approximately 23,500 building permits were issued in the past three years (36% for single-family homes)
Fourth in the nation in new housing starts
At the current rate of consumption, the County will lose 136,000 acres to development by 2030, leaving only 1,600 acres of developable land
Current residential density is 0.76 persons-per-acre (2nd least dense County in metro Atlanta)
By 2030, the population will likely grow to 370,000 persons(or 230,530 new residents) and 215,000 new vehicles are projected

AJC.com
There are several good articles on housing/growth in the metro area at the AJC site--local paper.

Anyone considering a move to Georgia should visit for a few weeks. I've lived here all my life and life seems to have become very complex. Important to find the right 'Niche'.
Henry county is targeted for growth by 2030. I think Newton County in the same area is also.
Best of Luck.
