Natural Hair Stylist Needed
I live the Atlanta, GA area and I am in the process of letting my chemical relaxer grow out. I have had it since I was a child and I ready for something new. Not quite ready to commit to dreads or anything like that but I would like to go natural. Does anyone know a GOOD stylist that could help me through the process? My hair is in great condition now and I want it to stay that way, but I need a professional look. PLEASE HELP.

Don't why I know this, but I do because my last 3 relationships where with natural haired women. There is www.ohmynappyhair.com downtown atlanta, and there are many places in the West End area that cater to natural hair.

I went natural in 1998, and haven't been to a 'professional' since. I got plenty of advice from a website called nappturality.com. There are thousands of nappies there to help with advice and pointers. There's a list there of natural hairstylists as well. If you need some specific advice about care and transitioning PM me. I'll give you all the advice I can.

Thanks. I will check out the website. Sorry if this sounds stupid but I have a question. You said if I had questions about transitioning "PM me". What does PM mean?

No problem TTC, if you click on my name you'll get a menu that says 'send private message.' Click on it and you can PM me. PM just means private message. Sorry, I've been doing this awhile and tend to assume that everyone knows the lingo.

This must be a black thing. I have no idea what you are talking about. So for the white guy... clue us in... Natural as opposed to what? Plastic? Paper?

Thanks. Is he really good? I have been in a ponytail now for months and I am scared to try anything else because my hair has gotten soooooo thick. I need someone who can work mircles until I decide to do the BIG CHOP

I guess it is a "black thing". But natural hair, when referring to black hair mean without chemicals (meaning not adding anything to the hair to straigthen it). Hope that helps.

I finally found a stylist that I truly like. I moved here from NC about 3 yrs ago, and it took me to this past January to find a stylist that I was pleased with. Her name is Monya and she is in the gwinnett area, in duluth. She specializes in healthy hair and she does natural hair as well. I had a thinning spot in the nape area of hair that would not grow in, and since I have started going to her it has filled in. She also has a wonderful spirit and personality. HTH
