Good Morning,
I recently decided to move to Lawrenceville GA. and now my baby sister want to make the same move. However, she has a 2yr old and 1 wk from her due date with second baby. She does not work (because she is pregant) now and receive public assist, she wants to be near me in lawrenceville to find a nice decent place for her and the children that she can afford, she also wants to find work here as well. Any suggestions???????? |

From my limited understanding (I could be wrong about that), social service in Gwinnett is very limited. That's due to part of fact that Gwinnett used to bedroom community of Atlanta. Only in the last ten or fifteen years year, a significant number of miniorities move to the area. There was a story about woman's shelter in Gwinnett. It only helds 200 people or something like that. So if you want to better social service, Dekalb and Fulton are probably the place to be. Just something to think about.

I don't think DeKalb and/or Fulton would be better.

Let me get this straight, she wants to move here to be on welfare and foodstamps? I know you said she wants to get a job, and I respect that, not easy being a single mother, but some of the other answers suggested the "social service amenities" of Atlanta. I'm sure the you are not asking people in here to support your sister when she comes down here, but that may happen if she moves here without a job. Can you see the distaste in that? May I suggest that, if she does move here, she lives with you until she gets a job and you, rather than the people of this Atlanta forum, support her, until she gets back on her feet. Good luck to you and her and I mean that sincerely. |

dd714,
My sister or I suggested you or anyone else in Atlanta to support her. What are you afraid she may take away from your greed??????? And I mean that sincerely. |

Maybe I misunderstood, you said she was on public assist - I'm sorry I offended you but lets be very frank, taxpayers are supporting her. I don't necessarily object to that, that is what assist is for. But why would her situation be any different in the Atlanta area? Last edited by Dd714; 01-19-2007 at 10:49 AM..
