Default Clairemount, Oakhurst and Winnona Park elementary schools in Decatur

Can anyone tell me the differences, if any, between Clairemont, Oakhurst and Winnona Park elementary schools in Decatur? We live in the zone for Clairemont, but when I went to register my son for kindergarten, they said that Clairemont was full and he would be going to either Oakhurst or Winnona Park. Just wanted to make sure those schools were just as good.

They are all comparable. But, if I had to choose one...I would go with Oakhurst.

Default All very similar

Nearly identical test score-wise - Oakhurst is slightly higher than Clairemont and Winnona overall, but it could change next year b/c they are all so close. All three are within a few points of eachother.

Two of mine will be at Oakhurst next year. We have been very happy with it. The principal at Winnona is a friend of mine... he is a great guy and everyone I know over at Winnona loves him. We'd be very happy there too.

Oakhurst has a little more artsy/granola feel then Winnona, which is more similar to Clairemont in feel... but the differences are subtle.

You know... ...if you can choose, you might just pick the one that is the easiest "commute." Does your child have a friend that lives in the OA or Winnona district? I would take that into account also. ... Your child will be in a great place at either school.

Also, frequently a slot opens up at your "home" school at the last minute so don't give up on Clairemont yet!
