Default New York to Atlanta for new job in Marietta

Im in my early 20s and recently recieved a job in Marietta. I am looking for a place to live somewhere in the Atlanta area.

I have heard about the horrible traffic so I am looking for a place which will allow me to get to work in reasonable time.

Any recommendations?

Default You are in luck

You are in luck, because Marietta is a good place to live in my opinion. Why don't you call your new employer and ask people who already work there for recommendations of good places to live. There are good places to live in Marietta and there are "not so good" places to live there as well. Your future co-workers should know which is which. Welcome to Metro Atlanta.

Smyrna/Vinings would also be a great option for you because it is close and have a "reverse commute" on I-75. There are some nice apartment complexes in those areas too.

I would second the Smryna Vinings suggestion.

You'll need to post your salary before anyone can recommend Vinings.

Where in Marietta? 'Marietta' covers a lot of Cobb County, as it not only refers to the city but to much of the unincorporated area of the county (not an unusual situation in the metro area). A more exact fix on your work location would be helpful.

Why should someone post a salary? you can live in Vinings for anywhere under $1000 to over $3000 in rent so the range varies greatly.

I recently was browing townhomes in the Smynra/Vinings area. You can get one for around $200k w/ 3 floors on the east/west connector which is about 1 mile from 285 (which is about 2 miles from 75S which you would take to get to ATL).

Totally agree that Smyrna/Vinings area near I-75/285 would be good for someone your age and is accessible (reverse commute for the most part) to most of Cobb County (Greater Marietta area). You can still get into town for recreation (down I-75) or to the airport (South on I-285). Although I live in NE Cobb County which is very nice, I'm impressed with this section of Metro Atlanta and what it offers in a variety of topics.

Don't post your salary. That is NONE of anyone's business except yours!

Best of luck to you in your move.
