i'm also curious. i am moving to fayette county, hopefully sometime this year
here are some stats: http://www.city-data.com/city/Peacht...y-Georgia.html

Races in Peachtree City:

White Non-Hispanic (85.1%)
Black (6.1%)
Hispanic (3.7%), from other school data (2003-2004) average 5.0%
Japanese (1.5%)
Two or more races (1.4%)
Other race (0.9%)
Asian Indian (0.7%)
Chinese (0.6%)
American Indian (0.6%)

i would imagine that since it is populated by mostly out of staters, it will be more accepting to diversity. my family will be visiting fayette county this summer and peachtree city is our second choice. our first choice is tyrone. i also heard about the racial tensions at their schools (flatrock middle).

Don't know about their attitudes now, but when I was in school in PTC in the '80s there were only a handful of minority kids in the schools. Doesn't look like that's changed much.

That being said, I never noticed any significant racism there, except for the one time that the KKK was handing out flyers in the road. One of my father's co-workers (who was black) tried to get them to give him a flyer. They would not, but it was hilarious. That was 20+ years ago, and even then they (KKK) were laughed at/ignored by the locals.

I always found PTC to be a tolerant place. Nowadays it's a lot bigger than it was back then, though. Lots more people moving in, and lots more to do.

I live in Peachtree City and in my neighborhood their are many Latino Families. I think you will feel very comfortable here. Peachtree City elementary has a significant latino population. some of the other elementary schools aren't as diverse.

Good Luck!

I also would say that there are a good number of hispanics in Peachtree City. I do not think there is any particular prejudice in either direction. My wife, who simply loves the spanish language, only speaks in Spanish to our children and therefore seeks out spanish native speakers as friends. She meets many native speakers at the Catholic Church's Spanish Mass.

As for the rest of Peachtree City, we absolutely love it. I'm a web designer and get to work from home: www.web4uonline.com so I really get to enjoy the Peachtree City amenities. If you are lookin gfor a place to live, you can check out our fantastic neighborhood at www.bellegroveptc.com

I think you should move to Peachtree City for sure!

I am so glad you posted this question. We are Black and will move to PTC soon because of a job. I wanted to post a similar question, but was afraid. I'm wondering about the neighborhoods. We want to live in Kedron Hills or Maple Shade - and we're Democrats (Conservative Dems, if that makes sense)...and we only judge people by their character (not color - cause mean people come in all shades)...
